[New Sancai Compilation and First Release] The Media Research Center (MRC), a conservative U.S. regulatory agency, released a report on March 18, recording a total of 41 times that Google interfered in U.S. elections in the past 16 years.
In its 19-page report, the MRC said Google's "influence has grown dramatically, making it increasingly harmful to democracy."
"From the mouths of Google executives, the tech giant has revealed information that has never been made public: Google uses its 'significant power, resources and influence' to advance its left-wing values," the MRC said in its executive summary.
MRC founder and president Brent Bozell said, "Google's massive and deliberate interference in U.S. elections over the past 16 years is unacceptable and the greatest threat to American democracy today."
The MRC documented each case in its report, starting with the first in 2008: “Google censored bloggers supporting Hillary Clinton.”
"It's no secret that during the 2008 primaries, Google aligned itself with the younger, more radical candidate, Barack Obama, rather than the relatively more moderate, more entrepreneurial Democratic candidate, Clinton. This symbiotic relationship was very Results were produced quickly," the MRC's summary of the report reads.
“In many of the cases listed above, Google has either admitted that it made mistakes or attempted to downplay studies and reports that were critical of its actions. But neither defense explains why Google’s election interference always seems to be directed toward moving in one direction: towards the radical left," the MRC wrote in its conclusion.
The MRC also issued three recommendations:
1. (U.S.) House Speaker Mike Johnson, Republican of Louisiana, should direct relevant committees and committee chairs to investigate Google.
Second, state legislators should address any question of whether Google is a common carrier, which it is; they could follow the lead of Texas and Florida and ensure that big tech companies don’t engage in viewpoint discrimination.
3. Americans should stop using Google products, especially Google search, and choose one of the many alternatives.
“Google’s outsized influence on information technology, politics, and U.S. elections became apparent in 2008. After failing to prevent then-presidential candidate Donald Trump from taking office after the 2016 election, Google has since Observers have made clear that it has and will continue to interfere in U.S. elections," the MRC wrote.
