[New Sancai Compilation and First Release] Most coffee drinkers know that drinking a cup of coffee in the morning can make us more alert and focused. But there's more science behind the benefits of drinking moderate amounts of caffeine. Studies have shown that caffeine can increase energy utilization and expenditure, reduce fatigue, enhance physical, motor and cognitive performance, and improve problem-solving skills.

These are just some of the health benefits of coffee, research says.

• Reduce strokes. A study published in the journal Circulation found that women who drank moderate amounts of coffee (two to four cups a day) had about a 20 percent lower risk of stroke compared with women who drank no coffee at all.

• Reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Parkinson's disease. According to The Washington Post, scientists from the University of Catania analyzed scientific research on coffee and concluded that coffee drinkers have a 5 percent lower risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and The risk of Parkinson's disease is reduced by approximately 30%.

• prevent cancer. Italian researchers also found "possible" evidence that drinking coffee is associated with a lower risk of common cancers such as breast, colorectal, endometrial and prostate cancer, with risk reductions ranging from 2% to 20% depending on the type of cancer.

• Helps in weight loss. Studies show that drinking coffee can reduce fat storage and aid weight loss. A review of 12 studies found that men who increased their coffee intake lost body fat. Likewise, women who drank more coffee had lower levels of body fat, according to a study published in the Journal of Nutrition.

With all these benefits in mind, it's worth noting that pregnant women should be cautious about drinking coffee. Some studies suggest that coffee consumption increases the risk of miscarriage, possibly due to a fetus lacking the enzymes needed to metabolize caffeine.
