[Compiled and published by New Sancai] Recently, an American medical journal published a research report conducted by an American university, pointing out that if people can exercise in outdoor natural environments, such as jogging in the park or walking along nature trails, Cycling on the road in the environment may be more effective than doing fitness exercises indoors.

But since not everyone has the opportunity to do outdoor sports in a natural environment, and even the living environment varies greatly, this advice does not apply to everyone, but people generally like outdoor activities. Parks, public walks, and community gardens are among the most popular places.

The study reports that currently more than 75% of adults in the United States do not meet expert recommendations for weekly physical activity. This moderate level of exercise can prevent chronic diseases such as osteoporosis, diabetes, heart disease, etc. In addition, exercise can also strengthen immunity, maintain a good mood, reduce existing chronic pain in the body, and even help prolong life.

In this study, researchers built on existing research and compared the benefit data generated by outdoor exercise with the benefit data of indoor exercise. It was found that outdoor physical activity has many benefits, including the above-mentioned benefits, and it can improve brain function, promote better interpersonal interaction, enjoy greater and more enjoyable exercise, and can also make people forget the feeling of fatigue. . The report recommends that doctors consider recommending activities in parks and outdoor natural environments to appropriate patients as one of the options for improving health.

However, because this study only explored the performance effects within one year, the researchers said that whether long-term outdoor exercise would have the same positive benefits requires further study. In addition, the report also mentioned that not everyone has the conditions to engage in sports in a natural environment. For example, residents who live in areas that lack natural public areas, such as those in cities that are too far from parks, or those that are mostly surrounded by private land. Moreover, some people with special physical functions are unable to engage in outdoor activities.

The study also found that men go to parks or public green spaces more often than women. The report also mentioned that according to a study by a Los Angeles research organization, among all ethnic groups in Los Angeles, black people go to parks the least to exercise.

Research suggests that taking full advantage of parks and natural environments for physical activity may be an important potential way to improve health.
