克萊普頓（Eric Clapton, 1945~），英國的吉他手、歌手和作曲家，在西洋樂壇素有"吉他之神"美譽。1991年3月， 他四歲大的兒子康諾（Conor）在紐約從53層高的公寓意外墜樓而死，克萊普頓悲痛欲絕，在1992年的一場演唱會 唱出這首「淚灑天堂」（Tears in Heaven），思子之情感動所有歌迷。演唱會的實況錄音隨後發行專輯後，在告示牌專輯榜上流連了兩年多，直到2004年，克萊普頓才走出喪子之痛，不再演唱這首曲子。
